Where are they now?

The other day I was wondering what happened to all the actors playing the main characters in SHAG. It seems as if practically none of them are names we see in connection with top movies these days. Many of them seem to have retired from acting, even though they are not that old, and I thought they were quite good in SHAG. I made a quick search and found out the following:

Phoebe Cates (Carson): 42 years old. Has retired from acting. Has two children with Kevin Kline, who are both acting.

Bridget Fonda (Melaina): 41. Has retired from acting (or taken a break?) Broke her back in 2003. Married Danny Elfman and had a son in January 2005.

Annabeth Gish (Pudge): 34, which means she was actually around the age in real life that she played in SHAG. Still acting, mostly on TV.

Page Hannah (Luanne): 41. Retired from acting. Only made two movies after SHAG. (I was a little surprised to read that her husband is 71).

Scott Coffey (Chip): 38. Still making movies, but not that many and often has minor parts. This is really disappointing as I thought he was just GREAT!

Robert Rusler (Buzz): 40. Still making movies, mostly has minor parts.

Tyrone Power Jr. (Harley): 46. Still acting. Scarce roles, not top billed.

Jeff Yagher (Jimmy Valentine): 43. Has minor roles.

Paul Lieber (The manager): Not acting anymore.

Oh, I thought your choice of words was somewhat inappropriate there: ..."taken a break? Broke her back "... I did not hear about that. Does anyone know what happened?

How sad that almost all of them have disappeared from the screen or are playing minor characters.

I posted some information - including quite a few links - on the Bridget Fonda message board recently, because someone else had asked about it. You can read the posts by following this link:

Yes, Paul Lieber is still acting, but mostly on stage, not on film anymore.
