HA HA- I always wondered why they said they were going to Ft. Sumter ["Sumpta"] to tour "god-dammed colonial homes" when everyone knows that there are no homes on Ft. Sumter??? It's basically just an island with a brick fort on top of it in the middle of the Charleston harbor. They could've just said they were headed to Charleston to tour colonial homes.
shareFt. Sumter is kind of a town as well as though. I would guess they were going to visit the fort and tour some of the homes in the nearby area. The point was that it sounded like a dull and unappealing trip, which going to Charleston would not be.
shareThere is a town upstate a little ways called Sumter but there is no town called Fort Sumter. I see your point though about the unappealing trip.
