hey! that's my dad's hotel!!!!

in the scene where richard and gene are hiding under a car (i think) in the parking lot of a hotel called the Turnpike Motor Hotel is my father's hotel!

It's located in Ridgefield, NJ and is now called the Days Inn

funny story my father once told me is that one day during filming, Richard Pryor was taking a nap in my mother's room (which was used so my mother and father could sleep between desk clerk shifts). So, my mom walks in while Pryor is sleeping and doesn't know who this guy is cause it's relatively dark and her first instinct was "AHHH STRANGE MAN SLEEPING IN MY BED!"

she then starts slapping him awake not knowing that it's one of the greatest comedians that ever lived.

mistakes happen and richard took it in stride and my mom was embarrassed..

true story!

Having done some serious road trip travel on the cheap from my beginning years, I have always had a fascination with little roadside motels. Possibly from Bates Motel, my imagination has always gone wild thinking about the different scenes that have taken place in my many various rooms. I will also confess to having very much enjoyed the location and prep work that was involved in this scene in See No Evil , Hear No Evil. It was my highlight when i was a crew member on this film. Keep the motel alive, its an American treasure, and will always have much more charm then some high priced resort.
