6/10. Here's why / Esta es la razón:

There's a scene in SAY ANYTHING where teenager DIANE COURT tells her dad that she had sex with her boyfriend LLOYD DOBLER, even though he didn’t ask her. That was the confirmation of something I had already suspected by that point: That this movie wasn’t going to be melodramatic; that it was going to be honest. In that sense, Cameron Crowe did a good job. There are a lot of moments that, even if they’re not as hilarious as other 1980s teen movies, they're charming. However, that’s also the biggest flaw. It's 1 thing to keep a movie realistic and it's another thing to make a love story feel like a slice of life movie. Seriously, at times, it felt like Crowe just wasn’t being ambitious enough. I also had a problem with the ending. Not that it was ambigious (that was good) or that I didn’t understand the idea; I did: In real life, nobody knows what will happen next. The problem was the execution: LLOYD & DIANE are shown worried about the plane falling down... but this wasn’t a thriller. Couldn’t Crowe think of another way to convey the message? One that wouldn’t feel like a cliffhanger? How about if they had stepped out of the plane, 1 of them had said “And now what?” and then it had faded to black?

Any thoughts?
