Can anybody tell my the original language of this film? IMDB lists it as English, but I thought Jodorowsky's earlier films were all in Spanish. I don't want to get the wrong one, because I hate dubs!

The official language in which the film was shot is English. Some of the actors either had accents that were too thick (or didn't speak English well enough) and had to be looped by different actors, or due to budget/time constraints, ADR wasn't done as precisely as it should have been.

Holy Mountain (English) and El Topo (Spanish) are both dubbed. I thought it was due to cost.

shareMaybe both. I know the early Italian spaghetti westerns used both english and italian actors. They both spoke their own language. For an english release they dubbed the italian actors and for an italian release they dubbed the english actors. It seems Stockwell was a born and bred yank so was most likely speaking english but the others seem italian/spanish. Maybe someone can confirm?
