When do we get Return on DVD?

Isn't it time someone put together a nice DVD box set of the three Musketeer movies directed by Richard Lester? The first two are available in various versions, it would seem, but no Return of the Musketeers on DVD. I think the first two came out from Fox, and the third from Universal, but does that stand in the way of a box set?

FWIW, I just received from Amazon.fr the French issue 3 dvd complete collection that has Return of the Musketeers on it (along with the first two) in 16x9, original and french dubbed versions, removable subtitles and extras. I haven't seen it yet, but the french language reviews I read say that all 3 have excellent video quality, better than the US 3&4 Musketeer collection. It's called, "Les Trois Mousquetaires - L'integrale" and its about 27 Euros shipped.

Yeah, the other guy beat me to the post. I just saw the three DVD set on sale in France. So, it is available, just not in the United States. Go Figure.

Hey All,

I know it's slightly OT, but does anyone know where I can buy the uncensored DVD of the Fifth Musketeer? I know the US version is edited.

Thanks

Actually, yeah, the studio issue does stand in the way of a box set. American studios are loathe to work together, unless forced to, as with the release of Watchmen. A perfect example is the Adam West Batman series. Foix owns the series, but Time Warner (through DC Comics) owns the character. Fox can't put out a dvd without cutting Warner Bros. in, and they have shown they don't want to. Same deal here. Foreign rights are often different, which is why you can find box sets, as they may have the same rights holder. I would love a box set of the Michael Caine Harry Palmer films, but they were done by different studios. Only Billion Dollar Brain is in print in the US.

I would love even a bare-bones dvd of this movie. I have the vhs, but would prefer a more stable medium. I just missed it playing on Encore, to get a dvd recording.

The DVD presentation is very respectable. The film itself is there to be judged by the viewer.

There's also a Spanish DVD by Filmax, but I wouldn't recommend it. It's only got Spanish audio and no subtitles at all. It's a barebones disc.
