Widescreen DVD?

does anybody know if there is a widescreen version of this available anywhere on DVD, I have a multiregion player so country/code doesn't matter as long as the dialogue is in english.

Doesn't exist in widescreen :(
Hope this gets corrected with a proper uncut and widescreen Blu-ray...

There is hope. I remember reading somewhere that Synapse is planning to release the film onto Blu-Ray as well as possibly release a new DVD.

A Danish R2-DVD just got released from Soul Media, and it's in 1:1.85 widescreen actually. Pretty decent transfer as well, and of course in English.

Well, as far as I can tell, these scenes are in the film:

- The torture scene showing a needle stab in the neck of the victim (pretty sure about this scene, 85% certain it's in).
- Dolph Lundgren shoots off the arm of the cuban soldier. (100%)
- The Russian soldiers are burning down part of a village with flamethrowers. This scene comes right after the choppers drop the poisonous liquid on the rebels. (100%)
- A lot of scenes with the bushmen tribe (including the healing scene), and Nikolai and Gao getting to know each other (pretty sure, 75% certain).

I've just seen it a couple of weeks ago, and from memory all of these scenes should be there. The most important ones (flame-throwing and arm-shooting) are definitely on the Soul Media R2-DVD release. I think they have it out on a combo-pack with the Blu-Ray as well, for about 100 Danish Kroner (approx. $15-20)

They also just released a bluray here in the netherlands, runningtime according to cover is 101 minutes and it's 16:9 (1.78:1), and it's 4 euro's at the moment at the media markt..

It's being released here in the UK in a widescreen version as well, running time 101 mins 4 secs. According to the BBFC website it was passed without any cuts. Not sure of the release date though.

I have the UK Bluray and the run time is 1:45:10.
It is region A,B,C. The transfer is decent as well. Full HD 1080p.The aspect ration is 1.78:1 (16x9). It comes with the original 2.0 stereo track in uncompressed LCPM format.
Extras are a poster,a 16 page booklett on the story behind the making of RS, intro from Dolph,UK exclusive audio commentary with the director,all out of bullets: Dolph remembers RS,music with muscles: composer Jay Chattaway on the soundtrack of RSand the original trailer. £15.99 on Play.com.
Hope this helps.

Having watched it, I can definitely say its uncut. All the scenes like the arm being shot off and the flame throwers in the village etc are all there.

The 101 minute running time must be because of the PAL speedup on R2 DVD. Blu-ray isn't affected by this, so it would still rum at 24fps as opposed to 25fps.
