DVD edited!

I just picked up the dvd released by Artisan.

I'll be perfectly honest with you... half the reason I bought this movie is because women in movies don't look like Courtney Taylor anymore and I want to see her naked, there I said it.

That being said all the nudity was cut out!!! The first nude scene is the hilarious one where Tim Conlon wakes up in school to find himself wrapped in a flag, when he drops the flag you see that he's naked. I didn't get too worried because I have an old vhs copy of the movie and you can see his shlong hanging down (congratulations Tim you must be very proud) so I figured that's why they cut that scene out. But I got to my favorite scene when he's digging in the football field and it shows nothing!

It's still rated R what's the deal? Also on the dvd is Prom Night IV with all of it's nude scenes alive and well.

It took me a long time to decide to spend $22 on this movie as I am poor but I had to own Courtney Taylor nude. The movie isn't wonderful anyway, I mean it's alright but Tim Conlon is hilarious by the way. Anyone see him on Mad TV?

No nudity, almost no language, this print really is weak compared to the original cut. I can only hope that someone will re-release it (ARTISAN, ARE YOU READING THIS???) in all of its R-Rated (or Un-Rated?) glory.

Man that sucks!
Anyone know how to get it for download on the internet?!
Be honest, the best feature of the movie are the nudity scenes involving Courtney! The sex scenes are stuff for legend.

sadly, it's true. this is one of my favourite camp horror movies too. just for the scene with MLM as Donna Reed saying "hi, honey. welcome home" and he turns around screaming "i don't want any f----ng pie! i told you to stop killing people!"

how could they be so ignorant as to use a tv print of the movie... that's just plain wrong.

I have the Australian DVD (all four Prom Night movies were given a DVD release here recently) and it is not edited. It's been a long time since I've seen the original version on VHS but this DVD seems to be pretty much the same.

The nudity is present here, and the line "I don't want any f'ing pie!" is definately in the movie as well. The gore looks the same as I remember it.

So if you can import and are able to play PAL discs, go for it. No extras as expected, and only full frame, but a decent disc that's quite watchable.

Do you know if there's an Australian box set with all four films available somewhere?

I plan on buying Prom Night III on Region 2 DVD as all the nudity, language, and gore is present. It's really odd but, yes, a TV edit was used for Part 3 while the true R-rated version was used for Part 4. It would have been nice to get them both in their original cuts in one complete package instead of having to shell out more money for a foreign DVD.

I bought the VHS first.... and I have that DVD... what the hell was the matter with using the VHS version? The TV print was still muddy and crappy, why cut out Courtney Taylor? She was hot damn it!

In the end of this movie does Sarah kill Mary Lou by shoving a bomb in her dress or some *beep* like that. I think what she used was a part of a flamthrower she was using earlier is this the same movie I'm thinking of if so this movie kicks ass.

I was pretty mad when I bought this, too. The box says nothing about it being a made-for-TV version of number 3. I really bought it for the third one because I think the one-liners in the film are a frickin' riot, but I hate watching movies where the actors' lips are saying one thing and their overdub is saying another. I wanted a regular version of the movie, so I ended up getting a VHS copy of the rated R version on eBay for like 2 bucks. If I'd known about the DVD being edited, I never would have bought it, as I had no desire to watch number 4 but it was just packaged with number 3, so I thought I was getting a deal and was really getting scammed.

I read that the UK R2 is also cut featuring the same edits as R1. DVDCompare.net says that only the R4 Aussie DVD is fully uncut. Might have to go with that one.

What, does he have a big dick or something? I unfortunately only saw the edited version on the DVD, but I really want the original uncut film! Does anyone know where I can find it?

I just found a VHS for $1.50 on ebay I guess I'll just have to be happy with that for now.

How do I know if my player will play a region 4 dvd?

reply

Look in the manual :p or if it states it's multiregion then it'll play anything thrown at it :)

But the Region 4 DVD is the one you want if you want an uncut/gore fested/language etc.

If I bought a DVD that was "rated R" but was instead a "TV" version, I would complain to the production company (Artisan or whoever).
Actually, I'd demand my money back.
The only way to stop this kind of false advertising is for people to stop accepting it.

I bought the 4 pack called Prom NIght the collection and number 3 is uncut. But no extras. And only 1 is widescreen with not a very good picture quality. The other three are full screen. So bye this if u want to see nudity.
