Is she from Indiana?

I think she is from Indy, why you ask? well everyone in her town has an accent, like their from the backwoods.

I am from Indiana and I do not appreciate someone saying an Indiana accent is backwoods. That was downright rude. In fact the midwestern accent is the most sought after accent for radio. It can mean the difference between getting a job and not getting a job as opposed to accents from other regions of the country(i.e. New York, the deep south and New England.)

I agree, I'm from a small town in Indy and I don't appreciate generalizations like that. I lot of places in the U.S. ar, shall I say, "backwoods". And I admit it, I'm a hillbilly, I have a country accent, and I'm proud of it!!!!

I thought Mid-east USA accents, like most Ohioans, have basically NO 'real'... "accent"... it's like bland...
(ohioan here, and I have basically no real natural accent unless i PUT one on deliberately.)

Part of this movie was filmed in New Carlisle and LaPorte IN. I am from LaPorte and vaguely remember them filming there. I was only 9. The old ladys house is still standing. I don't know if she is from Indiana. As for the backwoods comment, who cares. Everyone has an accent. It just depends on the region you were born and/or raised. What's a better word he/she could have used? Hillbilly, country? Is there a proper word for SOUTHERN Indiana accents?

reply

Actually the old lady's house was in Three Oaks, Michigan, where they filmed some of the movie (in addition to LaPorte). I'm from Northwest Indiana but I visited there a couple of years ago. It still looks pretty much the same.

The old lady's house was not in Three Oaks, MI. It is in New Carlisle, IN. I remember them filming here when I was a kid.

She is from Vermont. Rebecca has a full bio right here on IMDB!
