I believe she left a suicide note that said something like "i can't deal with the pain anymore" or something like that

Bad writing for the movie...she took the place in the movie of Jud's wife Norma in the book. Norma is the first person to die in the book and Missy didn't die at all. Since Norma wasn't included in the movie they used Missy's death instead. I see your point. I'd recommend the book even if you didn't enjoy the movie it's 1000x better. Not only my favorite Stephen King book but one of my favorite books period.

She had cancer and it was painful. I guess she killed herself because it was either not treatable and she would die soon anyway or couldn't afford the treatments and the pain was to much

I think by using the burial ground and bringing church back it was starting to unleash some evil that was starting to influence people and the environment. Right after the scene where she hangs herself there is a sky shot of the Micmac ground. Also interesting Louis is watching tv when a story comes up about whales abnormally stranding themselves on the shore and scientists don't know why. So the burial ground is effecting nature.
