I thought Susan was married. Huh???

I read the plot. Triplets try to get their dad with Susan. In Parent II, Susan says she was married. They even showed her husband! What???

in parent trap 3 she is divorced from her husband. and that is why she meets and falls in love with jeffrey

And in 4 they inherit a hotel from Jeff's aunt. That movie is really good too.

I recently posted this on another thread and decided to post it here to help with the confusion these movies generate.

I've recently viewed the sequels and they've kept it up.

Sharon McKendrick-Evers became Sharon Ferris, but divorces her husband. In part 2, she marries Bill Grand and the two are still happily married up through Hawaiian Honeymoon. So she is now Sharon Grand.

Susan Evers marries Brian Corey, and hense becomes Susan Corey. While they seem happily married, she not only divorced him but changed her name back to Evers. (In part III, she does verify she was once married, yet Jeffrey calls her "Miss Evers".) She then marries Jeffrey Wyatt, and hense becomes Susan Wyatt.

The only confusing thing is that it appears Susan has children with Brian Corey in part 2...but then in part III she mentions that those kids are Brian's from a former marriage, yet she maintains a good relationship with them. Still, it makes Susan's jittery nerves over being a new stepmother kinda odd. She even buys reading materials in HAWAIIAN HONEYMOON to help her adjust, and allows the triplets to walk all over her.

I think she just wanted to be a good step-mom to the triplets. But you are right, buying the books seemed a little over the top but the girls were teens and were more or less grown up. I guess she just wanted to be a better friend than to "mother" them.

I believe in Parent Trap 2 she does say they are her step children but which i am guessing the writers messed up is in Parent trap 2 she tells Niki she has been married for 15 years which is why she feels guilty for going out with another man even if it is fake but in Parent trap 3 she tells Jeffery that her step kids are 13 and 9. That makes no sense because if she supposively was married for 15 years then those kids should have been older.

reply

I can see how she could get divorced between movie 2 and 3 but the explaination about the kids doesn't make sense. In parent trap 2 when niki calls susan to come out there she has pictures of the kids and they look young and i belive she mentions their age. Susan told niki that she has been married for 14 years to her husband so for them not to be her kids the kids ages would have to be a lot older then they said

It is a bit of an error on the writers' part, but not a horrendous one. But even as a kid, it did jump out at me!
First of, Susan and Brian seem very happily married in Part 2, so it does still seem weird that less than 3 years later she is fully divorced from him and using her maiden name. But ok, Brian was an airline pilot, maybe he was never around, maybe he was a cheater...ok, for the sake of the story, they sure weren't gonna make SHARON the newly-divorced twin who gets married at the end of 2.
But as you point out, yeah it really is a stretch. She refers to them as "the kids" and says they are at camp in Part 2 which takes place/released in 1986. I believe in part 3 she says they are 13 and 16, not 13 and 9 as someone else said.
I have to watch 2 again I guess to see the picture of Susan's kids....if they are 13 and 16 in 1989, then they were 10 and 13 in 1986.
so that^ still makes sense, but if they are indeed from Brian's previous marriage and she had been married to Brian for 14 or 15 years as of 1986, then yeah- they would have been older than 10 and 13 in 1986.
