Soundtrack CD for Paperhouse

Some have wondered about a soundtrack for Paperhouse, and there IS one that was released in 1989. Here in the United States there was a soundtrack CD released on RCA Victor (60000-2-RC) in association with BMG Classics and Milan, and here are the tracks:

1) Overture (6:30)
2) Is Anybody There? (11:08)
3) Sanctus (from Gabriel Faure's Requiem) (1:44)
4) I'll Be Back (2:20)
5) The Staircase (Stanley Myers) (1:46)
6) Me And My Daughter, We Get On Like A House On Fire (17:42)

Though I own a CD-R of the soundtrack, I was somewhat perplexed at the cut version of "Sanctus" on the CD. In the film, the entire song is played during the "It's real" scene. Thus, I bought a Gabriel Faure CD to get the entire song. It really is a lovely piece of music and the edited version on the CD doesn't do it justice. Since the entire song was used in the film, the entire song should have been put on the CD. Either than that, I really love this soundtrack! The music just really fits the atmosphere of the film.

Ah yes, I was wondering why there was only a portion of "Sanctus" on the soundtrack CD as well ...maybe they only had the rights to a portion of it for the soundtrack release. I'll definitely have to pick up a full version -- thanks for the reminder! Nothing like kicking back with a glass of wine and listening to this soundtrack with headphones :)

Yes, I would assume that it had something to do with rights. However, being the completist that I am I needed the entire version. (Laugh) This is a wonderful soundtrack, and one that I often listen to while drifting off to sleep. It always seems that they put the best soundtracks on the "out of print" list, don't they?

Another soundtrack that has Hans Zimmer's amazing music is "Toys." Wish there was more of him on it, as it has other artists as well, but man is it beautiful. I also sometimes listen to his soundtrack for "Radio Flyer."
