Which is why they spoofed this scenario in both the first and the second Austin Powers movies;
instead of just killing your adversary, which would of course make the most sense, you place him (or her) in an easily escapable situation and then leave them alone. It's become a movie joke it's been done so often.
Btw; I just saw this movie for the first time on cable a week or so ago and while I liked it, I just couldn't get past Joanna Cassidy's hair! Jesus, she looked liked she had a giant nest or something on her head. When she was in uniform I thought her service cap was going to shoot off her head and kill someone.

D) Take him back to your HQ so that the audience can see the full extent of the plot and the Sgt gets some milk and cookies.
Besides the movie is written with the Sgt as the eventual winner. If anyone did try to kill him before the end of the movie then they would have to die a gruesome death. Movie audiences demand no less than that.
You need to retake Movie Plot 101 class or else no degree for you.
