HE COMES IN PEACE TO YOUR MOVIE SCREEN

Hi guys,

I have recently made the interview with Matthias Hues - http://budomate.com/matthias-hues-interview/, would love if I could get feedback on it.

I'm doing my best to get this in front of people who really interested in action movies, so if you even decide to share the article with your own readers, I would really appreciate it.

Thanks.

Thanks so much - an amazing interview. Interesting that Maria Elena Cellino was actually really instrumental in getting the film made and made it what it actually is today, when she insisted they cast Matthias or she would otherwise leave the production.

Did she come in after Keith had already written the original screenplay to perform a re-write?

This film was made during a real interesting political time in history where the USA was actually working with the Khmer Rouge against Vietnam.

You can read about it here:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Allegations_of_United_States_support_for_the_Khmer_Rouge

Perhaps this is the reason why the movie has never been released on DVD or BluRay in America? The political implications are just not worth digging up?

By the way just so everyone understands the muddled story line:

Sulin's father defers from Vietnam to support the Khmer Rouge (Cambodia) to overthrow the Vietnamese government (who are also working together with the Soviets), which causes the Vietnamese/Soviets to kidnap his daughter and keep her hostage in Cambodia (which has a base for the Soviets and Vietnamese).

So as you can see, the Khmer Rouge are actually depicted as the good guys, despite their history.

It's a really amazing film making accomplishment this movie. Not to mention that Mac plays an arms dealer, who is supplying weapons (legally or not legally?) to the Khmer and other hi-bidders. I mean, its so political. Yet you have this amazing innocent love story between the young American Hero and his fiancee. I mean the juxtaposition and spectrum that the movies covers is absolutely amazing. We're going from one end of naive young love, to the other end of political and militaristic reality. It's pure Shakespeare in my opinion. I just hope this movie gets a BluRay release soon.
