Cynthia's character should have lived

I really enjoyed this film. My only gripe is Cynthia Rothrock's character dying at the end. First, the death of any Cynthia Rothrock character is a bad thing. Any scriptwriter who could even contemplate killing off that goddess is a sick, sick man indeed. Second, in keeping with the tone of the film, there should have been a total feel-good ending where the heroes kicked-ass wholesale without suffering a single fatality themselves. The death of one of the good guys may add depth to a story, but if it happens it should at least be earlier on so that it can serve as the catalyst for some monumental and delicious revenge by another of the good guys later on. Third, I felt the death of her character made Scott look bad. He was the one behind her and Mac being in the mission to rescue his girlfriend in the first place. Several times Mac wanted to get out, but all that mattered to Scott was getting his girlfriend back alive - even if it meant his two buddies risking their own lives in the process. And that's half of what happened in the end. Cynthia's character was much more interesting than Scott's girl. I feel she also deserved to survive because she was brave, fought well and didn't just whimper helplessly at her fate - as Scott's girl did. Instead, her own life was lost as part of the operation to save the life of the other. A bad trade.

A Scott and Terri team up against Yuri would have worked just as well. Scott in reality shouldn't have been as successful as he was against the mountain-of-a -man Yuri.
