am I the only one?

I really hated that brother. Getting angry about food stamps and caring more about his image than helping his family. The only other place I'll remember that guy is as the Perfect Strangers episode "The Men Who Knew Too Much" where he portrayed a crime boss/smugler in Los Angeles

I just saw this movie last night on Netflix and wow what a movie. Makes me appreciate things a lot more. So sad to see such a happy well off family end up with nothing. I think everyone should see this movie. So moving.

I'm on disability and I collect food stamps. I learned a long time ago that pride won't put food in your belly. I'll never understand people who refuse a handout when they need one.

Yeah, he was just like the father on "Good Times." Welfare was a dirty word for him too! Great movie! Even such an argument is realistic in families.

I wish there would have been a part two where we could of seen them live happily ever after.

If I've never seen it before, it's a new release to me!

Yeah, didn't like him at all, I know exactly how the Jeff Daniels character felt, accepting help from his brother, just to have it thrown in their face. Unfortunately, being family doesn't always mean you automatically have someone to help you, which is sad, cause I could never do that, especially to my siblings with children

Only thing I remember is the mother got angry and stabbed the son. What a *beep* (sorry about the language.) Glad it's not on anymore. (Still enjoyed the actress, Christine Lahti in 2009's big hit "Obsession", though.)

Amanda Bynes is hot, Lindsay Lohan is not

The mother didn't stab the son. One of the guards at the public housing facility was trying to rape the mother and the kids walked in and saw and the son stabbed the guard to get him off his mother. The mother and the kids had to flee back to the streets because the guard called child services because of it. I don't know what movie you're thinking of but it's not this one.
