Who was this movie for?

Hulk fans of course, but I'm talking about the mainstream audience.

Also, were the wrestling fans in general satisfied with this?

It's a good question. A huge chunk of Hogan's fanbase at this time were children, and while I'm an adult now and don't care too much, this movie has some stuff that is really inappropriate for kids. It's on TV right now and I just saw that scene where the one guy pretty much tries to rape Joan Severance's character in the garage? Or the first time Zeus' character is introduced, he attacks a woman. That isn't stuff kids should see.

Back then people weren't as pussy and political correct as they are now. Kids saw all kinds of things that would todays generation make cry "Think about the children!".
It was a different, easier time and kids weren't padded and "saved" from the real world and "nasty things" as they are now.

And i really don't see that much of a problem with the movie. Rape? Kids won't realize that. Attacking a woman? He's the bad guy, what else is he supposed to do? Bring Flowers?
(That's the problem with todays Wrestling: The bad guys are pussies and not Heels like back in the day when they would all kinds of bad things...have you ever seen WWF in the 80's and early 90's? How many times was Miss Elizabeth thrown around by the Heels? Countless times. It's easy heat, it works and kids know it is wrong because only the bad guys do it)

While I agree that there are certain things kids shouldn't be exposed to, ShadowAngel is right. Kids wouldn't have recognized it as rape; the only reason we make the connection is because he's wrestling her and he's between her legs. Kids just gloss over things they don't understand. I never understood or thought much about the "electric ear cleaner" scene in the movie "Parenthood". It was only as an adult I caught the more adult stuff.

I remember watching a lot more serious action movies as a kid, if something happened that I didn't understand, I just ignored it.
