The heat between Zeus and Rip

I know Zeus was out to kick the crap out of Rip and they obviously had some history together since they had the same trainer but seriously what was the heat? That was never explained (although I'm sure since it was ghost written by Hulk Hogan and Vince McMahon, plot and structure were the last things on their minds).
