Why didn't Alice just get an abortion?

People were dying because of this kid. She can adopt.

I saw it. It wasn't a good enough reason and how else would Freddy find a way?

that's why i said adoption is key. her having kids wasnt meant to be because she beat freddy but he still came back in the end. he was probably going to get jacob when he hits puberty or something.

Im sorry about ignorant comments on this board directed at you. This is one of those rare movies that treats abortion like a normal thing (or even a thing that exist), which it is. Because of Dan dying this is her only chance to carry his child, so she does not want to abort it. Otherwise i think she would have chosen to remove the zygote from her uterus and end Freddy's evil plan to hold fake "dead baby" pictures at a planned parenthood with Amanda Kruger.

I see two reasons for Alice wanting to keep Jacob. In the grand scheme of things, both seem rather morally ambiguous buuuuut also understandable, considering the circumstance...

Firstly, from an emotional standpoint, Jacob was Alice's last connection to Dan (beyond his friends who were now her own). Without Jacob, all Alice would have of the man she loved is memories (some of which include the monster who was responsible for Dan's death). For this, many can argue that Alice's duties as the Dream Master come before her own emotions.....but....well, that subject gets murky when discussing a mother's love for her own child. I personally would go the abortion route DESPITE me not actually wanting one because I'd put the world and innocent lives first. But, abortion is a personal matter, so I don't judge.

Another reasoning for this is tactical. Remember, the only reason Freddy wasn't more aggressive in trying to kill Alice is because her life depended on Jacob's survival and Jacob's vice versa. If Freddy had killed Alice, Jacob would die too and thus Freddy would be lost forever. But similarly, if Alice had gotten an abortion, Freddy would still have access to her dreams and would stop at nothing to make her pay for ruining his plans again. Thus, it makes sense as the Dream Master to use her biggest advantage in surviving the Dream Demon in order to defeat him. But, is she right in keeping a threat (Jacob) around to preserve her own life? Debatable....

He would have come after her anyway, kid or no kid.

why would an 18 yr old adopt ? Did the OP pay attention at all ? lol she wanted to keep Jacob because he would be a part of Dan who was now dead lol

reply

I dunno, after Alice seeing what the kid would look like, she really should have aborted that mutant.

And missing the whole point...movie was commenting on the political climate then existing.

Roe was then on supposedly shaky ground...bush I was in office and Supreme COurt had just issued a ruling saying several restrictions were okay after all and did not 'really' violate Roe.

The access she could have obtained itself was in 'danger'.
