in hte final scenes Truman and his wife are leaving the precinct, Truman hands his chief something on paper.
His resignation? Because of his involvement in the shootout at the cemetary
or
his report on what happened?
In any event the Chief crumples it in his hand as they walk away.
i had the same question. a letter of resignation? i think so because he handed over his badge a bit earlier after briar was killed.
but, truman is going to be a father soon, so maybe he rethought that and decided to stay on the force and it was a report.
i wish i knew for sure. great movie though.
I would like to know what that was all about too. But, I guess we'll never know. :(

In my opinion, after you've made the Chicago mob mad at you...it's better to leave the state and go back to Hazard.
shareAt the end of the shootout in the cemetery, the mob boss made peace with Truman and his people, remember? He even said to Truman something like "it's over between our families isn't it?" With the loose cannon Joey gone, the two families could live happily ever after, or do whatever they usually do anyway.
