Why the 'R' rating (specifics)

It's been a while since I've seen this movie, and I know there's gun play and some pretty spicy language, but my almost 14 year old son is interested in seeing this, and is there any gratuitous sex or nudity or anything else that earns this movie an "R" rating that I might not want him to watch? Thanks very much...

The gun play takes place more towards the middle and end of the film, of course theres some fist action thrown in here and there, but mostly its the language and violence. Theres a scene where one character is with a hooker, but you don't see any nudity as the scene doesn't last very long. I'd say this is pretty safe for a 14 year old, in fact I'm quite sure thats the same age I first saw it.

I've seen this movie when it was released back in '89, i was 12 years old and watched it on Theaters, so it's safe for a young boy who is 14 years old now, a time when kids starts on violence & sex much earlier than a kid in the 80's.

It is basically rated R for Violence and Language.

I just saw it and there is a lot of cursing and some violence. That's about it.
