Death in American Hospitals

The way we treat the dying is unspeakably immoral, enough said. MDs and hospitals likely would choose a different path if profits didn't drive many of the policies towards the dying.

If you think of it, audiences of King Lear would have never believed that in the year 2000 it would be common place for elderly people to die like Lear and that "helpful" medical doctors, instead of reducing suffering, would invent all sorts of devices and systems to allow a dying Alzheimer's to eke on and on. The dark side is that this is all about profits and medical data collection by doctors & scientists-> and despite worshipping data, the system is inhumane enough that they would never allow themselves to be on the receiving end.
