You're supposed to hate these characters, but they're practically saintly compared to Clark. Strange.

They're easy to hate, or laugh at when something flies through their window and wrecks their pretentious stereo.
Plus one of them is Elaine.
Pretentious stereo? There's nothing pretentious about having quality components to produce high fidelity sound. It was still common in the 1980s, when this movie was made. Today, most people don't get it. They're satisfied with crappy streaming sound coming from their cell phones through cheap ear buds.
shareIt is not the stereo, that is the problem with Todd and Margo.
It is that they have such a snobbish attitude and think that they're so superior to Clark and Ellen.
I didn't have any problems with Todd but I couldn't stand Margo, I do feel like I'm watching a totally completely different movie when they appeared onscreen.
shareI like their inclusion. They add an element of tension. But not really. Comedic tension, which fits well in this film.
shareClark is really a bumbling dad and far from perfect, but he's at least trying to do good.
Todd and Margo are just unlikable from start to finish.
