I always save my favorites for closer to Christmas. It's that time to watch it again.

you know what's a real bugger, over the christmas holiday about all vacation movies aired in my country except - christmas vacation... considering what a popular (and well rated movie) christmas watch this flick is, it's pretty remarkable how obscure the sequel must be, well maybe not strange if you consider the quality, i tried to re watch it this christmas but it's just impossible, the jokes, the special effects, i wonder how many fans of this movie don't even know there is a sequel, not with clark and ellen, but cousin eddie and a few more of the old cast, though it don't seem it would have been impossible to get chevy chase in the part considering he's mostly done tv work and small movie appearances and hasn't had a decent movie role since the mid 1990's, frankly the fourth "real" vacation movie wasn't much good, but at least it was fun to see another instalment, but since the 2014 vacation movie the 2003 "christmas vacation 2" it is no longer the worst movie in the franchise, that 2014 flick also aired by the way, it could have been so cool with a fifth "real" sequel, but they managed to ruin it. what a neat unusual opening this has with animation and song, and later in the movie while clark is stuck in the attic is ray charles' tune "the spirit of christmas", just one of the amazing tracks featured on his far out christmas album. this is often considered the greatest of the franchise, how often does that happen with a third movie, i keep forgetting how far in cousin eddie appears, about halfway into the flick, and how much more stunning ellen is made up in this and vegas after having a pretty average appearance in the first two movies, it also includes a great fun co cast in smaller parts.
