Why did they take Jack Daniels out?

On the Family Channel when Clarke asked his Dad how he got through all the Christmas's he said with a little help. In the original the father said with a little help from Jack Daniels.

I guess FC figures if 3-9yr olds are watching, possibly alone, they're apt to wonder wtf Jack Daniels is, let alone how it can help someone through the holidays.

The channel also takes out Eddie saying "Wild Turkey" when talking about his daughter getting cured in a clinic from it. Wild Turkey is a bourbon whiskey.

They took a lot of stuff out. Especially when Clark goes on his rant, Ruby Sue talking about "$hittin Bricks" etc.

The movie just isn't the same with all the cuts they make in it. It's not just Hallmark doing it either. I watched it on FreeForm (Direct channed 311)

There will be plenty of other chances to watch this again this year. I'll just play it cool until I find one that won't chop it to death.

I am an adult with no kids at home so my mother says it's ok for me to watch the uncut version.

That's something I don't get about American television. Why can they leave in kiss my ass, kiss his ass, kiss your ass, and take out Jack Daniels and wild turkey? Doesn't make any sense to me.

Disney may have a policy against product placement.

And yet they had no problem prominently featuring a Walmart storefront in the same film; maybe it is a "family friendly" issue after all...

"...And on this farm he had an igloo..."

I didn't get that either. Like most kids would know or even think to ask what Jack Daniels is if Clark's father was to say it in the film? It seems like the film censors went way overboard with what they bleeped out in the edited version they've been playing on that new TV channel that replaced ABC Family.
At least they're showing the Nightmare before Christmas though. The commercials can take forever to fast forward through though. I wish the premium channels on Cable networks would play Christmas movies during Christmas and not in May or June like they tend to do.
