I'm already having post-Christmas blues

This time next week it will all be over. : (

Right there with you. All year long, I look forward to not only Christmas Day itself bit the entire season from Halloween to Christmas - "ber" months. The peak, to me, is a few days before Thanksgiving until right up to Christmas Eve. By the 15th of this month, I was already feeling like it has slipped away so quickly. The saddest day of the year is by far December 26th and it's almost here!

That's EXACTLY how I feel! Every word! I also hate it when radio DJ's and news reporters on TV say things like "Only 8 days 'til Christmas!" and junk like that. Just shut up and let me enjoy it! Ahhh well, the only thing we can do is indulge in the season as much as possible while it's here, and remember that October will be here before we know it.

ALSO, I don't see why radio stations have to stop playing songs like "Baby It's Cold Outside," "Winter Wonderland," and "Let It Snow" as soon as Christmas is over. These songs don't mention Christmas at all and are perfectly appropriate for the entire winter!

Yup! This year there seemed to be a lot of that. I love festive Christmas commercials and there was even a limited number of those this year. It's like the advertisers expected a good sales season and didn't want to waste much money on ads. I also believe those ads dried up earlier this December as the retail landscape has changed so much with online shopping and other factors - it's like they think if they haven't got your business by the 15th-ish, they're not gonna get it. One thing I love about YouTube is the collection of classic Christmas commercial videos! It's cool to know so many others like that stuff too!

I spend so much of my year looking forward to & longing for October! I love Autumn and it's the rollout of the entire magical Halloween/Thanksgiving/Christmas/New Year's festive season. After July 4th, I feel like I'm over the hump and it's on its way! I don't want to sound as though I'm wishing my life away as I do enjoy April/Spring but I love those "ber" months so much that I enjoy the anticipation/journey almost as much as the destination. It's sorta like looking forward to Friday evening when it's Tuesday. I get giddy when its mid to late summer and I see little signs such as football training camps & Halloween stuff in stores. It's then I know my favorite times are approaching!

I agree with the music on the radio idea. Especially when you have a storm coming.

I always got post-Christmas blues as a kid, which I always assumed would end when I became an adult. At 27 I still get the post-Christmas blues every year. Though I find something to enjoy during most months of the year, there is an unbeatable sense of fun and excitement from Halloween to New Years Eve. As a teenager, I learned to appreciate the week after Christmas, especially to enjoy my new gifts and time to visit friends and family. At that time I started to enjoy New Years Eve much more and still look forward to it as a final send off for the holiday season.

In spite of that, early January is truly the Monday morning of the year. The fun of the last few months ends, life goes back to normal, taxes are due, vacations end, kids and college students go back to school, etc.

When all is said and done, though it is the least exciting time of the year, and the time when I am most prone to seasonal depression, I still find things to enjoy during January and February.

Same here, just did not get too much into the season this year especially the last few days before Christmas. We did not have much of a fall this year, pretty warm right up until Halloween and even after Halloween it was unseasonably warm and Christmas Eve, Christmas, and the day after Christmas have been very warm so it just did not feel like the it normally does at this time of the year and Christmas felt like it came way too fast, wish it was not on a Sunday but on a Tuesday or Wednesday. One thing that does help though is keeping decorations up longer and watching some Christmas movies after Christmas or if you got some movies for Christmas watching them around the decorations. This time of the year you need some extra Vitamin D to help with winter blues though there is still New Years and the Super bowl to look forward too and hopefully some snow.

We also had a warm fall and I can't put my finger on why but things just didn't feel as festive this year. I'm seeing a lot of similar sentiments online so there's something about this year's holidays that just fell a bit flat for many of us.

wish it was not on a Sunday but on a Tuesday or Wednesday.

Same here! For whatever reason, I love it when Christmas & Christmas Eve fall on weekdays.

I can totally relate. I'm surprised & delighted that I yearn for the holidays the way I did when I was younger. I wrote another post above about how I try not to wish my life away but I love those "ber" months so much that I enjoy the anticipation/journey almost as much as the destination.
