I just watched the movie, and I just encountered one of the funniest scenes in movie history! @ 1:01:56, the hotel guy (the one in the uniform, with that stupid hat, which makes him look like a "damn mosquito-legged chimpanzee"), so that guy just smashes down on the plastic fly with that fly-swatter. That was so random, I can't help but laugh... You must check out that scene, it's hilarious!!!

Funny:

In the studio where the tour party 'dance' their way along the wall.

Then arty:

In the motel room with the Japanese couple in bed: the colour of their skin against the colour of the sheets.

My favourite scene is in the hotel room when Mitsuko kisses Jun smearing a red lipstick clown mouth on him (that doesn't defy his sad face)...then....proceeds to light his cigarette using only her toes. Classic!

I just saw this on Flix last night and I must tell you: I was not disappointed at all. There were some great scenes. I could tell you some of my favorites, but I don't wanna be the dumb one here.

Yeah, Sati84, it is and there's so many. Like the quote from the night store vendor saying after Johnny draws the piece on him, "And I'm the man that's going...." I'm watching these movies for the first time. Also, the hilarious explanation for Will's name. Ha! ha! ha! There's just too many scenes especially with the bellboy and Screaming Jay Hawkins. Mystery Train must have been an art house type film because I never heard of it. Jiffy Squid?!? Ha! ha! ha! ha! Man, your breath?!?" "What have you been drinking....it smells like kerosene." Ha! ha! ha! ha!

The fly swatter scene and the Jiffy Squid scene are priceless. The fly swatter scene was totally random. I think the best parts of the movie are the ones with the bellhop and hotel clerk.

Then I loved the quotation from the Italian woman about the greatest love of your life could last only for a week. That was awesome.

I would agree with the Fly swatter on the over-sized fly on the desk.. and the Jiffysquid... but another good one was the expressions on the Japanese guy's face during the insane rambling in the Sun Record's studio...

I love the first scene where Jun and Mitzuko are on the train.

Also Jiffy Squid. Tom Waits is awesome.

elvis apologising to luisa
all of the cigarette lighter gimmicks in the film,from jun to johnny aka elvis

When Mitsuko gives her long monologue to Jun, and all Jun does is say, "Eleven" to himself, repeating the number of times that the two have had sex.

My favorite scene is in the diner with Tom Noonan as he talks about the ghost of Elvis, how he picked up the hitchhiker who told him about a woman he'll meet from Rome, and how he is supposed to give her a gift. Brilliant stuff.
