fascinating, but perhaps a bit overrated?

I have yet to see this film (which I thoroughly enjoyed) on any particularly significant critic's list of top films.

Is it possible that it has, perhaps, been just a wee bit overrated?

This is a serious question, and although I am new to posting on these boards, I have surveyed them for quite some time.

No offense intended, simply a question.

NO

I think I am taking all of this rather well.

For what it's worth, I didn't think it was all that great. DDL was good, but it was a long, ponderous movie with a "masterpiece theatre" vibe to it.

Long? It’s only just over 90 mins, most Hollywood fare is 2-3 hours, and ‘ponderous’? It skips through Christy’s life at a good pace.

Your comment seems born of ignorance and a low attention span.

I'd say the only noteworthy quality the movie has is Daniel Day Lewis' legendary performance. It's definitely worth watching for the performance alone though, but other than that it's just an okay movie.
