was this part of a set.?

I noticed FULL MOON also released similar sci fi titles

Arena
Robot Jox
Crash and Burn

so are these a "set" are they part of a series .?

reply

No.

"Robo Jox" aand "Crash and Burn" are part of the same franchise. BTW, those two films are followed by the horrendous "Robot Wars"!

"Arena" is probably a stand alone film. I can understand how you might think "Arena" could be connected with "Moon 44" because of the feel of the intergalactic society. The difference is "Moon 44" had no alien races. I would compare "Moon 44" to the same universe as "Alien" or "Outland".

Sorry, But Robot Jox and Crash and Burn were not the same francise.

Robot Jox was a Stand Alone movie and the only thing that it had in common with Crash and Burn and Robot Wars was the Big Robots (Mechs). Robot Wars had one cast member in common (Danny Kamekona ) but it was a different character.

Anyways, ..

Robot Jox, Crash and Burn, Robot Wars and Moon 44 are great childhood movies that remind me of when I started watching movies and getting into the whole Sci-Fi thing.

Now they might seem crappy, but back then Imagination roamed wild!!!!

No, sorry edoman2000, those three films are part of an organic whole. They take place in the same universe with the same timeline. Just consider Isaac Asimov's Foundation Trilogy. Those "novels" were made up of several short stories and novelettes, each with different characters and different time periods exploring the expansion and decay of a galactic civilization. What tied those stories together was the unifying theme of that futuristic civilization. Robot Jox, Crash and Burn and Robot Wars similarly explores a future where giant corporations compete using gigantic human controlled robots. Expand your viewpoint of what makes a trilogy.

No they Don't!!

That would be like saying Mad Max, Waterworld and Escape from NY are part of a trilogy.
Or that Blade Runner, Judge Dredd and The 5th Element take place in the same universe.
Or that The Untouchables, Road to Perdition and Casino are part of a trilogy because as you stated "What tied those stories together was an unifying theme" (Organized crime, Drugs and plain ol' killings)

These movies are just "SIMILAR" in That they have a similar theme (Post Apocaliptic Robotic Warriors Driven by Humans) but that is just it.

They might "look" similar or have some common theme, but in no way shape or form are part of a "trilogy" as you stated.

A Trilogy has to be meant to be a trilogy by the people involved in doing the movies.

You might have thought that at first but after seeing tha movies, it's clear that they just are copycats (Robot Wars, Crash and Burn) of Robot Jox (Which came 1st)

And by the way. Just mentioning these movies, as great as they are, IMO, in the same parragraph with Isaac Asimov is wrong.

Happy New Year!

edoman you're right, but how you put up with that idiots responses for so long I do not know.

The main thing that connects Robot Jox, Crash and Burn and Robot Wars was they were all made by Charles Band and his Empire pictures / Full Moon Entertainment groups. Crash and Robot wars were cheaper cash ins on the more expensive Robot Jox. That is why they are similar, when they were released they tried to make out that wars was a sequel and crash was in the same Universe but I believe that was to try to make a little more money at the time. Although I enjoyed Robot Jox, thought Crash and Burn was not great and never saw Robot Wars(but from what I hear its better than Crash and Burn).

I am a fan of MOON 44 and own the dvd, this is a Roland Emmerich film and nothing to do with the other 3 films mentioned.
P.S. There is now a German Blu-ray release of Moon 44 available on Amazon.
