look, low budget compared to other big budget sci fi movies around that time
Aliens, terminator the abyss. etc..
but for what this movie was, it was cool. the people who thought this movie sucked so bad, can they please recommend a better movie in this genre at the time!

I agree, it's a great little 80s SF. Not perfect, but damn good fun!! And I always thought the effects and sets were fantastic for a low budget SF film (heck, most modern mid-range budget SF films struggle to look half as good). Sure, it ripped a load from Alien and Aliens and Blade Runner visually, but a lot of that has to do with how you can get great looks with next-to-no money. Lots of smoke, lots of silhouettes and shadows, bright lights contrasting dark or black sets and/or backgrounds and effects, very little colour... It did it well. :-D

I agree; i avoided this movie for years because of all the negative things i heard. I watched it last night and was very impressed. In fact this movie is awesome. It's up there with "Outland" with Sean Connery, another forgotten gem of a film.

I'm glad you mentioned Outland. This movie and Outland are two of my favorite though not particular well remembered except by probably sci fi lovers. I am surprised this has such a low rating. It was good... so much better than a lot of stuff.

Indeed, this is a very good sci-fi that only recently I had the pleasure to see again (seen it first a looong time ago). The only problem I have with it is the helicopters. Why the frack didn't they have normal vtol fighters or something like any other sci-fi? Nevertheless, good movie and good acting too and awesome props.
