Clever and insightful

An upper-middle-class French family battles each other, the elements and the utilities against the backdrop of the 1968 student revolt. Plenty of cultural clashes here, and the sexual revolution is in full force.

This film also features a sprightly score by Stéphane Grappelli and one of the most convincing portrayals of a corpse by a living actor I've ever seen. This would be a great double bill with "Death at a Funeral" – the original British one, please.

Highly recommended, even if you don't know your French or your history. 8/10 stars.
