Lineup error

The only thing that ever bothered me about this film was the lineup error in the final game. We know from that game that the top of the order was:

1. Hayes
2. Taylor
3. Dorn.
4. Cerano

Cerano hits a homer with 2 outs in the 7th. If the next guy got out, the next inning would be 6,7, and 8. If they went 3 up and 3 down, the ninth would start with the #9 hitter with Hayes batting second. However, when Hayes comes to bat, there are already 2 outs. It would have been impossible for the Indians to go all the way through the order and get Hayes up with 2 outs without having scored in that time.

It's small and petty, but sports movies always seem to have at least one glaring error in math, time, scheduling, scoring, or whatever.

But what if the batter after Cerrano got on base?

reply

That wouldn't help the matter any. There is still no way that Hayes could come to the plate with two outs in the ninth and no more runs on the board.

A wizard did it.

reply

Agreed. Wizard.

reply

Yes the wizard of this is a movie so none of it matters, if movies reflected real life...where would Jason Statham aka The Transporter be today?

Wingardium Leviosa, the line up is changed.

But its LeviOOOOOOOOOOOOOOSA. Not Leviosar!

~Hermione is then taken down at lunch by a sniper's bullet~

Correct me will ya?!

Am I Insane? YES!!

reply

I think the fact that they had Taylor hitting second is an error all in itself.

reply

In addition to Vaughn and Harris being the whole pitching staff. Let's don't forget they also got pretty damn far in the season without a first baseman, second base, shortstop, left fielder or designated hitter.

reply

Yep Taylor hitting 2nd made no sense catchers never hit 2nd in the lineup

it's a movie that is simply the reason why it makes no sense
