Molly was basically Rebecca Howe on "Cheers" -- neurotic, loud-mouthed, everything but a gold-digger.

No surprise to me, since "Look Who's Talking" opened in theaters two years after Kirstie Alley made her first appearance as Rebecca. I wonder if Amy Heckerling deliberately made Molly that way in an effort to cater to die-hard "Cheers" fans who had warmed up to Kirstie Alley replacing Shelley Long.
