what was frank leone in jail for????

This person is right, although they could have been less rude. Leone was brought up by an old man who pulled Leone off the streets. The garage that the old man worked in was robbed and he was beaten up by the same punks. Leone got revenge and they sent him up for assault. Assault isn't too long of a stay but the reason for the extended sentence was b/c Leone attempted to break out of prison when he heard the old man was dying. The warden of that prison was Drumgoole, hence the rest of the movies plot...hope it helped somewhat..
