The movie ends and the credits roll when Brian was being asked by his parents over the phone how they ended up in California and he said "sorta of a long story" <cue end credis>

The portals don't need to be exactly same distance away from each other in underworld that they are in ours, It's magic ffs or a "wormhole" if you will.

shareBecause the monster world doesn't share a 1:1 ratio with the Earth with regards to distance. The monster world is MUCH smaller. Not sure why you instantly assumed it was equal size to the US. Further, I think it's amusing that you think the monsters only scare kids in the US.
