Why is no one talking about the sexual undertones in this movie?!

"When boy asks you to do something, you do it!"
"I tried, but my knees hurt!"

That line is clearly talking about a BJ. I cannot think of any other context. On top of that, when Maurice is being yelled at for not trapping Brian in the underworld, Snick says something along the lines of, "Boy gets lonely. Boy wants Brian." Why would they phrase it that way?! Why would they specifically say, "Boy gets lonely"? That's such a strange way of saying it, and it could really only mean one thing.

And then obviously the entire scene where Brian confronts Boy, and Boy tries to convince him to stay and "be his pal". It's so freaking bizarre. And after Snick captures Brian, Boy says, "Show him to his room!" which is another incredibly odd thing for him to say.

To me, it seems like Boy traps children down there so he can have his way with them sexually and possibly use their skin for his creepy skin suit.

I can't believe this is a children's movie.

But the point is that these types of jokes go way over kids heads. It gives the adults amusement while watching as well.

Shrek is another example of this type and MANY, MANY other kids movies where adult jokes are slipped in.

The kids to not get the jokes or even enter their minds so what is your problem?

You hit the nail on the head with Boy, that's probably another reason Brian was so adamant about getting his brother outta there immediately, aside from the reason of him turning, when he met Boy he probably thought ok this guys a diddler.

"Snuffles was my slave name, you shall now call me Snowball."

Projecting much...if you think something about sex it is. In this movie it isn't...its a kids movie. Grow up

I think that's one of the more interesting parts of the film...

It's like the director basically said, "I want to make a movie that I can watch and enjoy as a kid, but then come back 10 years later and still be able to fully enjoy it as a teenager as well."

That's what this movie is a good example of, a ton of movies have stuff hidden in it for adults, but none of them are quite to the extremes as this one, it's basically made for teenagers as well as kids.

I watched this when I was maybe 7-10, and the one scene I've always remembered most vividly from the entire movie is the part where Maurice ruins the bully's lunch and pisses into the his applejuice, "He's gonna be pissed tomorrow!"

But yeah there are so many sexual innuendos in this film, the most awkward one was probably when Maurice started "flicking" his tongue at Kiersten while they were in her room watching her sleep.

Or how about when Maurice made his hand morph into a dog while eating the girl's homework. He said something along the lines of "Man's best friend.....The right hand." I took it as him referring to a man wacking off. Lol.

Haha, you're right. I didn't think of that when I saw it in the movie.
It's true that it's full of innuendos, like the OP said. I don't know what to say about kids wathing it (it's a children's movie, after all), but watching it as 25 year old, I found it entertaining and especially smart for this kind of movie. Made me feel nostalgic because "they don't make them like this anymore" ^.^

A lot of kids movies in the 80s had weird sexual undertones. Labyrinth was fun to watch as a kid, but as an adult you realize the movie was actually about a pedophile.

We saw it today for the first time, including my 18 year old son and 14 year old daughter. My daughter said something about it being a kid's movie and my son and I both argued with her. There was so much language in it and it was a bit scary for actual children (opposed to teens). My daughter, unfortunately, appears to perpetually be a twelve year old boy with that level of humour and giggles at burping or passing gas.

Personally, I think it was a third rate rip off of Beetlejuice and was done better (although not better than Beetlejuice) as Drop Dead Fred two years later.

I guess someone could interpret these lines that way, but I don't see the point... it's a fun kids movie. That's why no one's talking about it in that context.

The thing about the BJ yes, sexual.

But I think the rest is in your head.

It seemed to me that Boy is basically an incredibly powerful child who gets everything he wants. I didn't get the impression that he wanted anything sexual from Brian.

I don't agree with any of that... you just have a twisted mind to even think those things were deliberately put in a kids movie in that specific sexual context :/ just eww.

But, there are some sexual jokes, like Maurice says "a mans best friend is his right hand"... hint hint lol, he flicks his tongue somewhat sexually at sleeping Kiersten (eww), the parents argue about lack of sex lol, maurice talks about boobs and that monster says nice ass to brian lol, so obviously a more mature film for kids back then, none of the watered down nanny films like now XD

That’s called pantsing and it’s a joke kids & teens do to others as a way humiliate them. Similar to a wedgie. Nothing sexual about it. I agree you have a twisted mind.
