Anyone else feel bad for Flounder?

I love this movie but I have always felt bad for him. Ariel talks about wanting to go become a human and leave him behind. I wonder how that makes him feel. I always feel sad when he waves good bye to her at the end. He loses his best friend. I mean they can obviously see each other he can come visit her but it's not the same. What is he gonna do without her to go exploring?

Probably putting to much thought into it haha. But I have always felt bad for the poor little guy.

Hang out with scuttle and Sabastian I suppose.

That is a good question

Disregarding the sequels, I imagine they stayed in touch.

In all fairness, even the sequel at least had a pretty good reason why she didn't stay in touch with Flounder (Ariel and Eric were forced to seal themselves from the sea after Morgana nearly murdered their daughter at her presentation).

As we see in the sequels, he did manage to have his own family.

True

Poor guy, he also seemed to have no parents! He was all alone after Ariel got married.☹

reply

True, I did feel bad for Flounder at Ariel's wedding. But I guess that Triton and Sebastian kept an eye on him.

but since she was a mermaid and royalty, she wouldn't have been able to hang out with him anyways as she got older even if she stayed. He would have still been left behind unless he found a fish to mate with.
