A great classic monster movie

This science fiction horror film has what it takes to be a top notch monster
movie. Like Frankenstein and Jurassic Park the moral of the story is
that it's not nice to tamper with mother nature, and those who do so
will have to face the terrible consequences. Not by any means an
original story, but more like a takeoff on Alien or John Carpenter's The
Thing. The big difference however being that it takes place below the
ocean depths at a silver mine.

Still it has it everything to be a good thriller, suspenseful moments
and good special effects along with some memorable characters. Highly
recommended for late night entertainment with friends. Guaranteed to be
scary enough for the kids. I give this film an 8.

I have loved this film as long as I can remember, I think I first saw it in mid - 90's. It's indeed extremely good and it just makes time fly by. I'd say it really ranks up there with The Abyss when I think about best underwater movies. It's heck of a lot better than Deepstar Six anyway...

I like this movie as well. Kinda sad how people *beep* on this movie here. It really wasn't too bad.

Jerry.....I agree w/ you. Leviathan was a good film. It had a good cast and set, and some pretty good scares. And best of all, Lisa Eilbacher! Yum :)

I'd have to agree, Leviathan has really loads going for it - granted, it's a major rip-off of Alien, The Fly and The Thing to name but a few but that only adds to the movie. Doubt if will ever happen but I truly think this would made a fantastic remake!

It could be awesome remake indeed, just give Michael Biehn the role of Beck!

Yeah I just saw this yesterday morning of Sci Fi and it was awesome to my thoughts...

I hope to god all of the comments on this thread are sarcastic

Leviathan fails in almost all regards- its practical effects are extremely poor. It steals the vast majority of its scenes DIRECTLY (and I mean literally directly) from the likes of "Alien" and "The Thing" yet does them all much more poorly

it lacks much of any tension and is paced terribly.

Last but not least- the dialogue and acting are quite poor. I like Ernie Hudson but even he can't save this film

there are few redeeming things about this film. I think the fact that it fails so incredibly at even pulling off things that are COPYING prior films says a lot. The effects should not look considerably worse than the film its mimicing from a decade prior

she fell through a hole, and was never seen again

It is garbage...in almost all regards.
