A couple of things I noticed about the 'loud mouthed wench'

We never even find out WHICH kid is hers that Joe Clark threw out, and my mother pointed this one out, if her kid was thrown out of school, why would she still be on the school board?

She was a miserable *beep* The way she acted with the mayor led on that she had that whole "Da Man" BS attitude. She couldn't accept that her child was a worthless criminal and was willing to drag down everybody in her own *****y life so long as she didn't have to look in the mirror and say she failed as a parent.

Exactly, what she should have done was instead of wasting time going after Joe Clark and the mayor, she should have put her son (who is not a criminal) in another school away from Joe. Paterson had other high schools. Lol

I love this movie! Lol

Her son WAS a criminal.

She was put on the school board by the Mayor, remember? I think the thing is she doesn't try to deal with whoever her son was and just blame Clark. She is the villain here.

reply

Right, she was appointed, but besides that, there isn't a school board around, that I know of anyway, that requires you to be a parent to be on it. Now the PTA is another matter all together but the school board is almost always made up of politicians and administrators.

The charecter is an amalgam of several parents and local community "leaders" that we're actively against Clark and his successful efforts to clean up the school.

I think she is symptomatic of the fact that a majority of black boys will not grow up with a father around. As good and right as a mother may be, boys WILL find a male figure to model themselves after because that is a psychological and developmental necessity.

With so many black fathers and black men in general incarcerated or absent or dead or unknown, the only male authorities available to a lot of black boys will be criminals and gang leaders.

A father around will not guarantee that a boy will not become a criminal, but it is a great necessity to give boys a model which does not involve becoming one.

Her anger and bitterness probably comes from the fact that as hard as she tried, she couldn't keep her son from becoming a criminal. She had to blame someone other than herself, so she picked whitey.
