First 5 minutes revisted

Lean on Me revisited. First 5 minutes is powerful. Joe is an interactive tough teacher to 1967 suburban Newark. He only gets Crazy when the Board says they are selling him out and expect a Thank you. 20 years later the same Newark School is last in the State. Fights, Mean girls strip the pretty girl (jealousy). Me - Oh...there's a young man with a serious look on his face. He doesn't condone the foolishness. Look at his straight out of Kenya features. The jawline. Kingly. He wants to learn. WRONG. 5 seconds later we learn that he is focused on the back door where a suited adult who looks Principally actually has a suitcase of drugs and my favorite character so far is not so noble after all as he hands a wad of cash for the drugs. Aint that some mess!!!
Ok 5 minutes more. When the friend Admin played by Robert G meets Joe in the sandbox 20 years later and challenges him as all rhetoric and no wins and you see the shadow of opening door, foot in first and subsequent Joe with a rare vulnerability on his face as he looks at the graffiti, it is classic movie magic. I dare say this film is so emotionally draining it might be better taken in doses.
