could have been way better.

I don't like that he had only ONE professional fight before facing Tong Po. I found it odd that winning ONE fight would worry Tong Po's promoters so much. Imagine back when Mike Tyson was in his prime if someone won ONE boxing match against someone who yes is a professional but no match for Tyson and then demanding a match with Tyson, nobody would take that seriously.

I think instead there should have been a montage, a series of several fights where every single time Kurt defeated the Thai fighter with no more than moderate difficulty and usually almost effortlessly and EACH TIME he looks angrily right at Tong Po's promoters in the audience and demands a match with Tong Po and they gradually get more and more worried and only panic and decide to kidnap his brother after his 8th or 9th victory.

I don't like that he was being forced to throw the fight, it would have been better if he had just been the underdog fighting uphill battle like Rocky in Rocky 4.
