I don't think so, just a big brother looking out for his little sister in an extremely close family--too close, resulting in overprotection of the baby of the family.

There was never anything physical, nothing even hinted at, but for years the reason Richard didn't marry was, as he claimed, he did not meet a woman who measured up to Karen.

Hey giffey,
I kinda thought it was something like that...

There are a number of reasons why Richard delayed marrying so long. The duo's career, of course, made any sort of romantic relationship difficult for either sibling. Between marathon recording sessions going into the wee hours and grueling tours, there wasn't a lot of spare time during their heyday. But another reason may have been that neither Karen nor Agnes (their mother) approved of some of Richard's choices in women, and as a result there was at times friction behind the scenes.

Most likely report was that Richard is single...and quite gay

Actually, wasn't Richard at one point dating Karen's secretary and Karen got rather jealous?

The world is your lobster.

He was dating Karen's hairdresser.

Who knows. After all, Richard ended up marrying his first cousin.
