Doing sit ups in bed

Was there ever a more face palming moment than when Daniel actually tried to convince Miyagi that he was doing sit ups in bed? I really don’t see how anyone could do an effective sit up in bed anyway. Was Daniel really that dumb to think anyone would fall for his story? Or did Daniel actually make it a habit of catching up on his sit ups while in bed which accounted for his fatness?

It’s hard to say what Daniel was thinking at any given moment in the film. His actions were bizarre. Was it a conscious creative choice on Macchio’s part to portray him as mentally unstable or did the actor’s own personal demons leak into his performance?

Equally cringeworthy was his pretending not to realize he’d injured his own foot. “Wow, look at that. I… I… I don’t know. Maybe I banged it in my sleep. I don’t remember.” His level of disrespect towards Miyagi was appalling.

Good thing for Whinielle he was a fast healer as noticed by Silver.

He accepted the compliment without acknowledging Miyagi’s old foot powder, taking the credit himself. He was pathologically dishonest.

This is Daniel we are talking about. He is as the Foghorn Leghorn describes his own love interest. https://youtu.be/eNAtGmQ6i3o

Yes.

It is quite possible. He was able to perform a few situps, which indicates there is some muscle memory going on.
