Does anybody know the answer here

At the beginning of the movie, Daniel tells his mom that Tomika got a dancing opportunity in Japan, therefore was not going to America. But why did Daniel have to lie? The reason she didn't come back to America was because she was not asked to be in the movie

Have to admit has me cracking up.

reply

That makes no sense

reply

He's a troll. Can you not see that?

reply

I can now haha I don't always see these things 👍

reply

She had to make up an excuse so as to not hurt Whinielles feelings.

reply

But all she had to do was blame the makers of this film since they didn't cast her character. Daniel had no reason to lie to his mom on the phone as depicted in the movie about her getting a job in Japan

reply

You are confusing real life and in movie universe. Lying has nothing to do with it.

reply

She and Chozen began a relationship while Daniel began binge eating to cope.

reply

And every time Whinielle thought of Kumiko he would just splat his face head-down inside a big gooey bowl of Aunt Pats cold leftover Mac and cheese to forget his sorrows.

reply

Which has nothing to do with the OP's question.
Typical

Who are you to judge? Didn’t you lose posting privileges when you no-showed at Harrods?

reply

Didn't you lose yours when you no showed at my dojo when you threatened to show me up in front of my students?
Who am I to judge? Who are you? You come on these boards with your lies and chicanery. Causing trouble and continuing a feud that ended with imdb closing its' message boards. Striking out at any poster who doesn't share your opinion.
Go away fool, your gang is no longer around to support your rantings.

The masses have spoken. The future Terry Silver once prophecized has come to pass. When people mention karate around here, all they mean is Cobra Kai karate, John Kreese’s karate. Miyagi isn’t even a memory.

The producers opted to name the reboot after Cobra Kai since it’s global brand recognition dwarfed that of Miyagi-Do. Meanwhile, the pitch for ‘Mr Miyagi’s Little Trees: Year One‘ was laughed out of the room.

reply

It's called Cobra Kai because basically it's about Johnny Lawrence. Daniel is just the side show.
Guess you missed that though eh?

reply

There’s a reason Johnny and Kreese are the central focus. The Cobra Kai message of ‘Strike First, Strike Hard, No Mercy’ has resonated with generations of filmgoers who’ve modeled their lives on those core values. Now, on the eve of 2021, the Kai is on the verge of global domination and you are powerless to stop it.

reply

Shut up you wanker.
The reason is obvious. As I said many times over the years, Daniels story was done. The only story left worth telling was Johnnys.

reply

Daniel’s story was never worth telling in the first place. His whole character arc existed to provide a connective link between more compelling figures such as Johny, Kreese, Chozen, Sato, Silver, Barnes and Milos.

reply

Except the whole original trilogy was based around Daniel. It started with him in Newark and ended with him defeating the Kai.
Only a dickhead like you could see it any other way.

reply

Daniel has been relegated to supporting character status in his own franchise. Johnny is the face of the show because audiences identify with him.

reply

You really do walk in to these things don't you?
It's called Cobra Kai not the Karate Kid. It might be rooted in the original, connected if you like. But it is Johnnys' story. It started off with Johnny and both series so far have ended with Johnny. Daniel is just the support act in a new franchise, not his own franchise.

reply

Why do you think they made the creative decision to focus on Johnny and sideline Daniel?

reply

Like I already said, Daniels story was done. The only interesting story left to tell was Johnnys'

reply

He was always the more compelling character. Like Griffith after him, Zabka’s star quality outshone Macchio’s by far. You could take Daniel out of the show and wouldn’t miss much.

reply

You could, but then Daniels success and Johnnys lack of it was the driving force for Johnny to restart Cobra Kai.

reply

This one made me chuckle.

reply

You are joking, right? You do know the difference between real life and acting?
