Cobra Kai series....

...is the path this movie should have taken. Ralph Macchio was too old at this point to credibly pass as a teenager

reply

I don't know... watching the 40 year-olds play teenagers in Grease was past the point of credibility!!!

reply

It was and is also my point.

reply

Who the hell was 40 in Grease?

reply

I know Stockyard Channing was probably in her 50s but thought I'd call her 40 anyway to be nice.

reply

She was 32-33 when filming. 34 when it was released.

reply

The principal and that bloke who sang beauty school drop out were probably over 40 ;-)

The Cobra Kai series would be even better if it was the continued adventures from the 2010 version with Jayden Smith. And it would be able to feature Mr Han who was much more likable than Mr Myagi

reply

Not so sure it would have been, but hey, each to their own

reply

I don't think Jackie Chan would be willing to reprise that role.

reply

I like that song he sang....I feel for you.
Hang on a minute that was Chaka Khan. I always get those two mixed up!

reply

Ok, doomer.

Sometimes it is best to just leave a movie where it was and move on. Karate Kid was entertaining when it came out, but if you thought seriously about the story it was so unbelievably stupid it was no longer entertaining and you just felt stupid for ever thinking you actually liked it. But hey back in that time period all you needed to do was throw in quick edits and a good soundtrack and you could make lots of schlock look like a good show... Just look at Miami Vice back in the day, lots of people watched it but if you look at it now you'll realize it was total crap dressed up in flash and a good soundtrack.

I think the series (Cobra Kai) on youtube though is a nice homage to a movie that was popular back in the day.
