Naked Gun reference

Anyone catch the reference to Naked Gun?

When Kwai's "Assasin" enters Annie's apartment he: tries to kick the door open while wielding a gun but puts a hole in the door instead, causing him to clumsily open it from the inside, falls into a series of traps including a bear trap, touching something hot with his hand, and face planting into a cake.

I could recall the beginning of Naked Gun where Nordberg (OJ) tries to thwart the plot on the "I Love you" boat, very similar things happened to him. Seeing that Naked Gun came out a year earlier, I think it is a reference.
