So he cared more for the dog then his girlfriend

After exchanging her for the drugs,with a gun pointed at her head,he gets all emotional over the shot dog rather then having her back safely.This should of rang alarm bells in her head on the way to las vegas should'nt it?

I would care more for the dog too. The girlfriend was so irritatingly ANNOYING. The dog was way more interesting and frankly likeable.
