WHAAAATTTT????????? ?????

Mickey Rourke, on the other hand, who doesn't have much acting ability in the first place,

I read this on the comments for this film, and i think who did it is on DOPE or ALCOHOOL or something HARDER.The "Johnny Handsome" movie IS Mickey Rourke!! Morgan Freeman??? LOOL,its good,ok,but NOTHING compared to Rourke.MR is simply the best. That scene when he looked at the mirror after plastic surgery and he CRIES,with such TRUE emotions,i see REAL LIFE!!! And this is actin!!
"Johnny Handsome" isn't the top 5 best films of MR,but still deserves a 7,5/10,only because of HIM!!

Even after the surgery, I love that he still has a mild lisp when he speaks. I recently saw this movie for the first time and I believe that it is further proof of just how totally *beep* cool Mickey Rourke is, along with the fact that he is a phenomenal actor, regardless of what people say about his face or his attittude, bizarre behavior, etc.

This movie is as close to a perfect film as you'll find.
Walter Hill directed it, not that retard Tony Scott who couldn't make a film like that in his dreams.
Mickey made a slew of very fine flicks around then, before bombing out for a period. I think the boxing flick gave him brain damage. A Prayer for the Dying is another unknown great film, even if bits are unbelieveable- with Liam Neeson supporting, no less.

Let's not drag Tony Scott into this. tony is a brilliant director. He is brilliant and bold in his images and experiments with the image and camera technology.

I agree that he might not allways choose the best scripts to direct but a brilliant director none the less.ยด

Walter hill is another director completely. He is a true auteur and often both writes and directs giving him an edge and another kind of quality than Tony Scott.

Whoa... Tony Scott a retard? You obviously haven't seen TRUE ROMANCE. But I agree, JOHNNY HANDSOME is criminally underrated and those 96 minutes are so fun that they flash by. I picked it up for $1.00 for two reasons. 1) Mickey Rourke is my all-time favorite actor, and 2) Walter Hill is one of my favorite action directors. Great film! Nice lighting and cinematography.

Mickey Roarke is truly great in this. It's too bad that he wasn't able to keep this level of quality films in his career.
