Cannes Film Market?

Could anybody advise me please if Howling V was ever shown at the Cannes Film Festival.

In the IMDB website for the film about half way down the page is a section titled "details" and has a sub-section titled "Also Known As". When clicking on "see more", leads you into an area titled "Release Dates For......". Near the top France is indicated with a release date of May 1989 and next to the year, in brackets, is the wording "Cannes Film Market".

If someone could explain / advise me what this actually means and whether Howling V was actually shown at Cannes in 1989 that would be appreciated.

I have e-mailed to the Cannes Film Festival Web Site but have received no response.

Howling V was not shown at the Cannes Film Festival. In fact the film was not show at any film festival. The film was shot in Hungary, edited in England and it was released straight-to-video.

The Cannes Film Market is not the film festival. It's a buyers market where many foreign territories are sold. Hundreds and hundreds of titles; big and small are taken/screened in private rooms there each year.

I would assume this film was screened at the market - just as most independent productions made that (and this) year :-)

Think of it as the European AFM.
