Shades of Cronenberg

If Cronenberg did a black comedy around the Videodrome - The Fly era, this is a bit like how I’d imagine it. It was out around the same time too.

Great film.

Excellent point. This is very much like Cronenberg, with more satire and less horror.

Cronenberg was the first thing that came to mind, too. Incidentally, I had just watched Videodrome a couple of days ago (Richard E. Grant almost even resembles James Woods). The other thing that struck me is that scene from Army of Darkness where Ash grows two heads and it spreads into another body (Good Ash/Bad Ash). I had no idea that it sprung from this movie.

I really enjoyed the sharp-edged satire aimed at the advertising industry (Branded did the same thing). I'm confused by the ending, though, on the horse. Did Bagley do a full 360? He's preaching about roads and cars, yet he's on a horse in the countryside. I'm not sure what the film is trying to say by that point (I suppose it was ironic, shot for highly dramatic effect). A good, memorable flick regardless, and painfully still relevant.
